About these groups:

Essential skills taught:

  • Different ways to have conversations
  • Finding common interests
  • Using electronic communication
  • Organising hangouts with friends
  • Finding sources of friends
  • Choosing and maintaining friends
  • How to use humour appropriately
  • How to be a good sport
  • Handling bullying and rejection
  • Handling rumours, gossip, and disagreements
  • Changing a reputation

During group sessions, participants are taught the above skills and are given the opportunity to practice them in session during interactive activities (e.g. role plays, video reviews, board games). Parents are taught how to assist their child to make and keep friends by coaching them through weekly socialisation tasks.
