Clare Stibbard

Certified Practising Speech Pathologist

A bit about me:

Clare is one of the brilliant clinicians in our East Maitland team, and brings with her a wealth of experience with adult and paediatric clients.

Clare graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2011 and spent ten years working at community health centres in South West Sydney and at Campbelltown Hospital. She moved back to Newcastle in 2020 and is so happy to be back.

Clare has extensive experience providing intervention for a range of communication needs including toddler language delay, speech sound disorders, language disorders, voice disorders and stuttering. Clare has specialised experience in paediatric feeding. Clare also has experience providing speech pathology input on the Child Development Assessment Team and the Premature Baby Clinic at Campbelltown Hospital. Clare has worked closely with paediatric occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and dietitians.

Clare is committed to continuing her professional development and has attended many training courses in the following areas: language development, stuttering, speech sound disorders, infant feeding, key word sign, literacy and autism.

Clare is a Hanen-Certified Clinician and has experience providing the “It Takes Two to Talk” program to groups of parents. She has attended postgraduate training for the Lidcombe Program for preschool-aged stuttering, and is also trained in using the PROMPT technique. Clare is certified to utilise the Sounds-Write Program for students with literacy difficulties. She is trained in the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development. Clare is committed to providing neurodiversity affirming services and has recently completed training in this area.

Clare is a mother of four children and is aware of the time demands on parents. As a result, Clare always strives to use everyday routines and interactions to target communication goals. Clare loves to learn about each child’s individual interests and incorporate them into therapy sessions.

Clare is currently on maternity leave.
