Alyssa Edwards

Certified Practising Speech Pathologist

A bit about me:

Alyssa absolutely loves being a speech pathologist and enjoys building relationships with her clients and their families. She has previously worked in a community health setting as well as in hospitals and has gained extensive experience in a range of communication disorders. Alyssa has also gained vast experience with adult clients in the assessment and treatment of swallowing and communication disorders with hospital inpatients, outpatients from the community and residents of aged care facilities.

Alyssa is committed to continuing her professional development and has attended many training courses and conferences in the following areas: language development, stuttering, speech sound disorders, infant feeding, paediatric and adult voice, key word sign, literacy and autism.

Alyssa is a Hanen-Certified Clinician, which means she is trained to teach groups of parents and individuals the “It Takes Two to Talk” Program and also the “More Than Words” program. She loves using her knowledge to effectively train parents of children with language delay.  Alyssa has attended postgraduate training for the Lidcombe Program for preschool-aged stuttering, as well as training for school-aged stuttering. She is also trained in using the PROMPT technique. This is a system for providing input to the muscles of speech by touch and pressure. Alyssa is certified to utilise the Sounds-Write Program for students with literacy difficulties.

Alyssa strives to make all of her sessions family-centred to ensure a successful result for her clients. Everyone loves being around Alyssa - both her clients and her colleagues. She makes everybody's day brighter.

Alyssa is currently on maternity leave.
